Camping de Hertshoorn
From the camping site…... you can cycle or walk straight into the Speulder- en Sprielderoerbos, where you are bound to run into a wild boar!
This century-old Veluwse forest is one of the most beautiful and oldest forests in the Netherlands. Oak and beech trees, bent in the most wondrous curves, determine the atmosphere.
The Speulderbos is popularly known as the ‘forest of dancing trees’. That’s because the trunks seem to move in the early morning mist. Not only is this a mysterious forest; it is also extremely rare, and it’s a paradise for birds (of prey), red deer, badgers and wild boars.
At about 200 metres from the camping site’s back entrance you will find the start of 2 signposted hiking routes: the 6-kilometre Laarwandeling and the 4-kilometre Duinenwandeling. Of course, various free hiking and cycling routes are available from reception: we truly recommend it! Princely GarderenGarderen used to be a farming village, but now it’s a popular holiday destination.
Surrounded by forests, drift sand and heather, Garderen still has something of a charming aura. Garderen has always been located at a crossroads of trade routes, such as Amersfoort and Apeldoorn, and Harderwijk and Arnhem.
During the months of July and August, you can listen to some exciting folk tales at the mill. The mill is open on Thursdays, from 10.00 - 15.30 hours.
