ANWB (Royal Dutch Touring Club) Quality ratings

In 1990, De Hertshoorn was voted Camping Site of the Year by the ANWB.

The ANWB gave us the following scores (out of 10) for 2007:

Since 2006, the ANWB has been applying a new score system, dropping the star system and using only marks. We used to have five stars. The score with the above figures works as follows:

Sanitary facilities count 3 times, and the pitch and the site count double. This average gives you the overall figure.

ANWB Eurotop

From the beginning in 1999, the ANWB has been voting us ‘Euro top camping site’ (each year). In the words of the ANWB:

More and more campers are looking for a camping site that is more like a luxurious hotel in terms of facilities. That is why the ANWB has made a selection of the best camping sites in Europe. In all, there are 70 Euro top camping sites, located in Austria (9), France (12), Germany (2), Italy (10), Luxemburg (1), the Netherlands (16), Spain (19) and Switzerland (1).

What can you expect from a Euro top camping site?

All Euro top camping sites are among the top in the field of camping. Still, each site has its ‘own’ target audience. A camping site in the mountains for instance will organise different events than one that is located on the seaside. You can rest assured that all basic facilities on a Euro top camping site are perfectly in order. Also, the camping sites can be found in interesting areas, they have lots of facilities for families, and they do their utmost to please their guests. Of course they have to be clean and hygienic.

Quality inspection

An ANWB Euro top camping site is extensively checked by an ANWB camping site inspector each year. Camping guests can also voice their opinion on a special questionnaire.

The Greenkey

The GREEN KEY (formerly known as the Environmental Barometer) is THE international approval mark for businesses in the tourism and leisure industry who take environmental care and management in the workplace seriously. The GREEN KEY guarantees the business owner’s efforts to do more about the environment than demanded by legislation alone. In order to obtain a GREEN KEY, a number of environmental measures must be taken. Many of these measures relate to saving gas, water and electricity and separated waste collection. These are mandatory. Apart from a number of mandatory measures, a business must implement a couple of optional measures. The number of optional measures applied determines the level of the GREEN KEY: bronze, silver or gold.

This year too, we were awarded the GOLD Key.
