De Hertshoorn and the environment

We try to reduce the environmental burden in a responsible manner, and we wish to work in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. Below we show you about the how and what and the way in which our environmentally-friendly policy works.

The Green Key: this is an approval mark for environmentally-friendly leisure companies. In order to qualify for a bronze, silver or gold Key, a number of different environmental requirements must be met. Each year, an environmental scan is carried out at De Hertshoorn so as to determine how environmentally-friendly we are. We were again awarded the gold Green Key on the basis of that scan! We, as De Hertshoorn team, are proud of that, and we hope that our guests help us to maintain the environmentally-friendly policy on our camping site where possible.

*     Civic amenity site: Separated waste, to be deposited in:           

      - residual waste container

      - paper container

      - glass container

      - battery container (in the supermarket)

*     Low-energy light bulbs: we use low-energy light bulbs virtually everywhere

      (for instance: all lights in a sanitary block use 300 Watt per hour)

*     Water saving:

      We have fitted water-saving shower heads and taps in the sanitary blocks.

*     Solar energy:

      The swimming pool is partly heated by means of solar panels.

*     Fertilisers:

      Insofar as possible, we use organic fertilisers, such as dried chicken manure.

*     Cleaning products:

      We use environmentally-friendly cleaning products.

*     Leisure:

      The glue we use for our arts and crafts activities is environmentally-friendly, while the paper is waste paper from the printer’s (whenever possible).
