Hear the legend, feel the spirit!
The Kekuli you'll find at Jutberg is built from an original design by the Suswhap Indians of Canada. These Indians used the Kekuli as their winter quarters; it was also called a pit house. These winter quarters were built mainly by the women and were made of tree trunks put together a certain way.
The roof was of beech bark, pine needles and grass, covered with sand. The sand was carried up in bags. Our Kekuli is larger, and is covered with rather more modern materials, such as pond lining, root cloth and sand and grass on top.
The Kekuli is used for campfire tales, meetings, children's theatre and relaxing in pleasant company around the fire.
