About the location
Campsite Torentjeshoek is located about 2 kilometers from Dwingeloo, one of the most beautiful villages in Drenthe, on the edge of Dwingelderveld National Park. This vast nature reserve of heathland, forest, and ponds is the largest wet heathland area in Western Europe and is ideal for hiking and biking. With a bit of luck, you might even come across a flock of sheep. The village of Dwingeloo itself is also worth a visit: with its onion-shaped church tower—popularly known as “de Siepel”—you’ll find cozy outdoor cafes, restaurants, and shops. If you want to explore further, this is also a great base: the Drents-Friese Wold, Ruinen, and the Dwingelderveld Visitor Center are all within easy reach.
- Directly adjacent to Dwingelderveld National Park, with a network of hiking, biking, and mountain biking trails
- 2 km from the famous village of Dwingeloo, the Siepel Tower, cozy restaurants and bars, and the Dwingeloo Radio Telescope
- Free admission to the Dwingeloo Swimming and Adventure Park, located near the campsite
- About a 15-minute drive from Drents-Friese Wold National Park and the Dwingelderveld Visitor Center near Ruinen
