Reptile Zoo Iguana

In the centre of Vlissingen, you’ll find Reptile Zoo Iguana, a rescue centre for reptiles, amphibians and arthropods. Animals are brought in by the authorities and private individuals, either because they have been confiscated or because, for whatever reason, they are no longer wanted. You can see some of these animals in our exhibition. They are animals that can no longer return to the wild, for example because their habitat has been destroyed or because they are disabled and missing an eye or a leg.

Iguana is Europe’s largest fully indoor reptile zoo. Around a subtropical greenhouse, spread across four buildings, you can see more than five hundred live reptiles, amphibians and insects from all over the world. The animals range in size from five centimetres (the venomous emperor scorpion) to more than 7 metres (reticulated python). You’ll also find frogs, toads, salamanders, snakes, lizards, crocodilians, turtles and tortoises, insects, tarantulas and much more.

There is a nursery where eggs are hatched and young animals can be seen. You can come face to face with the giants of the reptile world. An experience not to be missed!
