At De Haeghehorst, we feel responsible for the world around us. As a recreation company in the heart of the Veluwe, we realise every day how valuable and vulnerable our environment is. That is why we are actively committed to reducing our ecological footprint and making a positive impact on people, nature and society.

The way forward is clear to us: minimise damage to the environment, have a positive influence on the lives we touch and have as much fun as possible. We believe that real progress comes when you see sustainability as a way of working and living together.

That is why we strive for a balanced and future-proof balance between People, Planet and Profit.

That is why we are involved in VELUWON, a cooperative of recreation companies in the Veluwe region. Together, we are committed to inclusive marketing, knowledge sharing and strong connections with the community – for a fairer and more future-proof recreation sector.

Employees make the difference

Our team plays an active role in realising our sustainability ambitions:

From day one, all employees are informed about our commitment to equal opportunities, non-discrimination and sustainable work processes, as described in the Company Competencies.

The cleaning team works with environmentally friendly products.

Our catering department is working to reduce plastic and cardboard packaging.

  • The technical department manages energy-efficient installations and assists with waste separation throughout the park.
  • Our reception works as paperless as possible and serves as a collection point for batteries, among other things
  • We also encourage a sense of connection and ownership, both during and outside the season. Employees, as well as former employees, are valuable ambassadors for us. This is how we build a true Haeghehorst community.

Planet: for the planet

We strive to limit our impact on nature as much as possible — in both the short and long term. Concrete steps we have already taken:

  • The Environmental Barometer helps us to systematically monitor and improve our environmental processes.
  • Heat pumps heat our swimming water in a sustainable manner.
  • All buildings are equipped with water-saving taps and shower heads.
  • Our recycling centre ensures separate collection of waste (glass, paper, residual waste).

  • The winter sanitary building operates without gas as much as possible and provides sustainable support for the sanitary building during peak season.

  • Employees clean up litter in and around the park on a weekly basis.

    Green energy
    Thanks to a purchasing collective with Vattenfall and our own energy generation, we are fully committed to green energy. This allows us to reduce COâ‚‚ emissions and increase our energy independence.


    Water management
    Water is precious. We use water sustainably with automatic irrigation systems and water consumption monitoring.
