General

Are groups allowed at the campsite?

We are a real family camping, larger groups are therefore not allowed on our camping. If you come with a group of up to 10 people (including children / babies) you can do this on request. We accept a maximum of 3 places per group.

When is the campsite open in 2026?

Our campsite is open from March 20 to November 8, 2026.

Can I charge my electric car at the campsite?

The campsite itself does not have facilities to charge electric cars, and charging on your pitch is not allowed.

However, just outside the campsite, in the municipal car park, there are 6 charging stations:

  • Four charging points right at the entrance of the campsite
  • Two additional charging points further along the Duinweg

Please note: Between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, parking fees apply even if your car is charging.

Are only travelling youngsters allowed at Camping de Zwinhoeve?

Camping de Zwinhoeve is a family campsite. Young people under the age of 21 are not permitted on the campsite without parental guidance.

Is the campsite located near the beach?

The campsite is located just behind the dunes. After about 5 minutes’ walk from the campsite entrance, you’ll reach the beach. On the left, you’ll find the ’t Zwin nature reserve and the channel, and on the right, the wide beach offers opportunities to sunbathe, search for shark teeth, or enjoy various beach sports such as kitesurfing, wave surfing, and catamaran sailing.

Can family or friends come to visit?

Visitors are always warmly welcome at our campsite.

If your visitors are staying overnight, we ask that you let us know in advance. The night register must be updated, so we need the visitor’s name and date of birth.

Overnight stays are allowed, provided the maximum number of people allowed is not exceeded.

The costs are:

  • At the campsite: € 6.05 per person per night, including tourist tax
  • In the chalets: only tourist tax of € 1.75* per person per night

Wifi

There is free wifi on the campsite. You can log onto 'Camping de Zwinhoeve' and do not need a password.

Where can we park the second car?

Do you have a second car? You can park it on the Duinweg, just outside the campsite. This is a public parking area managed by the municipality. Please note: it is paid parking.

The municipality of Sluis charges € 2 per hour or € 7.50 per 24 hours and checks regularly. You can pay contactless, by debit card, or via an app (e.g., EasyPark).

If you are not using the second car, you can also park it for free at the Retranchement parking lot, about 2 km from the campsite at the intersection of Kanaalweg and Knokkeweg.

Is barbecuing allowed on the pitch?

Barbecuing is allowed, provided it is done safely and a bucket of water is kept next to the barbecue for safety. During longer dry periods, barbecuing may be temporarily prohibited due to fire risk. In that case, we will make this clearly known.

Open fires, such as fire pits or campfires, are not permitted.

If you are unsure, feel free to ask at the reception.

Are pets allowed?

A maximum of 2 pets are allowed on the camping pitches. The additional costs are €4.50 per pet per night.

A maximum of 1 pet is allowed in a number of chalets, for which you pay a surcharge of €35.00 per period.

Keep your pet on a leash. Pets may not run loose and may not be left alone on the camping site.

Accommodations

Are there rental properties suitable for disabled people?

No, there are no rental accommodations suitable for disabled persons.

Is there a high chair or cot in a Zwin chalet or Zwin lodge?

There is always one high chair available. If you would like more, please let us know.

A cot does not fit in the bedroom of the chalet, but we do have a rack that you can place in front of the bed so that small children do not fall out of bed. A cot can be reserved free of charge.

Please note! The cot does not fit in the bedroom.

Is bed linen provided in the chalet or lodge?

Yes, there are sufficient duvets and pillows available. The chalets have single mattresses and single duvets. You can rent the sheets and towels. Please inform us at least 1 day before arrival!

  • Sheet package € 8.00 per person
  • Towel package € 7.50 per person.
Can we pitch an extra tent next to the chalet or annual pitch?

Additional tents and party tents are not allowed on the chalets and annual pitches.

Is the chalet cleaned in between?

No, the chalet is delivered clean and there will be no cleaning in between. Not even if you stay for a longer(er) period.

Is the final cleaning of a chalet included in the price?

The cost of final cleaning is included in the price.
We ask you to empty the trash cans, put the dishes back in the cupboards and leave the chalet broom clean.

When you check out, please give us your bank account number so that we can return the deposit to you after we have checked it.

Reservations and Payments

Cancellation Conditions

If you have not taken out cancellation insurance and wish to cancel your reservation, the conditions of the RECRON industry association apply. In case of early departure (e.g. bad weather, illness, etc.), no refund will be issued. Below you will find the conditions and you can calculate the insurance premium.

When cancelling, the guest pays a fee to the operator:

  • If cancelled more than three months before the arrival date: 15% of the agreed price.
  • If cancelled between three and two months before the arrival date: 50% of the agreed price.
  • If cancelled between two and one month before the arrival date: 75% of the agreed price.
  • If cancelled within one month before the arrival date: 90% of the agreed price.
  • If cancelled on the day of arrival: 100% of the agreed price.
I have made a reservation, but have not yet received a booking confirmation. What should I do?

The e-mail address may not have been entered correctly. Did you make a reservation, but did not receive a confirmation yet? Please feel free to contact us. You can do this by e-mail (info@zwinhoeve.nl) or by telephone (0031-117-392120).

What are the costs if I rent privately?

If you have rented a caravan privately, you pay the rental costs directly to the owner.
In addition, we charge a site contribution of €4.50 per person per night.

Pets are of course welcome, with a fee of €4.50 per pet per night.

The site contribution is paid (in advance) directly to the campsite. Once the owner has provided us with your details, you will receive an invoice from us. This price includes tourist tax and free use of all our facilities.

This way, you can enjoy your stay at the campsite worry-free!

Camping

Late check-out

Sometimes it is possible to book a late check-out. This is only possible last minute, if the pitch is not being reoccupied.

On the day of departure, you can ask at the reception before 10:00 AM whether a late check-out is possible. During quieter periods, we may also be able to confirm this one day in advance.

The cost for a late check-out is €15.00. You may then stay on your pitch until 5:00 PM.

Which plug do I need to get electricity at the campsite?

All camping pitches have a 10-amp electrical connection. To use electricity, you need a Europlug.

If you don’t have a Europlug, you can borrow one from the reception while supplies last. We ask for a €20 deposit, which will be returned to you in cash when you return the Europlug.

Digital television

At our campsite, it is possible to watch digital television. For this, you need a coaxial connection on your TV.

Do you have an older TV (more than 10 years old)? You may need a decoder. At the reception, you can borrow a Humax device. A €20 deposit is required. Please note: we have a limited number available.

It is also possible to obtain a coaxial cable at the reception, also for a €20 deposit.

Do you have a satellite dish? Please ask at the reception for a suitable spot. Due to the trees on the campsite, not all pitches have a good signal.

Are the private sanitary facilities on a luxury comfort pitch cleaned in between?

The private sanitary facilities are delivered clean upon arrival. In between these will not be cleaned.

Not even if you stay a long(er) period.

Can I register an additional guest for our camping pitch?

A maximum of 6 people are allowed on a camping pitch.

The price is based on 2 people. For each extra person, an additional €6.05 per night applies. Babies are also counted as a person, but up to the age of 2 there are no extra costs.

We kindly ask you to provide in advance the name and date of birth of all people staying with you for our night register.

Other

Are there walking/cycling routes near the campsite?

You can use the cycle network directly from the campsite. Cycle or walk through the dunes to Cadzand-Bad or via the Zwindijk to Knokke-Heist.

A bicycle junction map is available for free at the reception.

What attractions are there in the area?

There are several attractions in the vicinity of Zwinhoeve campsite, such as Speelboerderij de Pierewiet in Nieuwvliet, Struisvogelboerderij Monnikenwerve in Sluis, Family Fun Park Toversluis in Sluis, bunker park Groede Podium in Groede (free admission) or experience an adventure afternoon at Boerenhoeve in Nieuwvliet. The famous park Plopsaland in De Panne is a 1 -hour drive away. Or go to the Boudewijnpark in Bruges (dolphinarium and amusement park). Leaflets for inspiration or a Badkoerier are available at the reception.

Which nice towns and villages are in the vicinity of the campsite?

Strandcamping de Zwinhoeve is situated between Retranchement and Cadzand-Bad, both worth a visit. Retranchement is a small fortified town with real ramparts, nice for a nice walk, Cadzand-Bad is a modern seaside resort with a marina, luxury hotels and restaurants. 

Nice villages/cities in the area are the fishing village Breskens, tourist attraction Sluis, Oostburg has a large weekly market in the region on Wednesdays.

Just across the border you will find the fashionable seaside resort Knokke-Heist and at about 25 km from our campsite you will find the beautiful Bruges, one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium.

How far is the centre of Cadzand-Bad?

The centre of Cadzand-Bad is about 2.5 km from the campsite. Here you will find various shops such as a baker, supermarket, bicycle rental etc.

Facilities & Opening Hours

Bike Rental

We do not rent bikes on the campsite. However, we have a discount arrangement with Neptunus Bike Rental in Cadzand-Bad, just 2.5 km from the campsite.

Is there a supermarket at the campsite?

There is a small supermarket on the campsite.

Sandwiches, croissants and delicious cookies are baked here fresh every day. You can also go there for 'forgotten groceries'.

You will find the supermarket by Food & Drinks in the snack bar, to the right of the brasserie on the outside of the campsite.

Can I have mail, newspapers, and packages delivered to the campsite?

Mail, newspapers, and packages can be collected at the reception. Upon entering the reception, there is a mailbox on the left where all mail is sorted alphabetically.

When placing orders, always make sure to provide your name and pitch number.

When is the entertainment team present at the campsite?

From 12 July to 30 August 2026, Strandcamping De Zwinhoeve offers a varied and fun animation program for young and old alike.

During this period, our enthusiastic animation team will be available three days a week with fun activities for children and families. Think of craft mornings, games, and all sorts of exciting challenges. The program is deliberately accessible and designed for different age groups, so that everyone can join in.

What are the prices of the laundry?

You can use the washing machine and dryer by putting a credit on your Zwin pass (shower pass or slagboompas). The costs for the washing machine are € 6.50 per wash and € 3.50 for the dryer.

You can do this with cash at the kiosk outside the reception, if you want to pay with PIN you can top up your credit during the reception's opening hours

Arrival & Departure

I will arrive after reception opening hours, can I still enter the campsite?


Yes, if you have booked a pitch or a Zwinchalet/Zwinlodge through the campsite, this is no problem. Please let us know on the day of arrival that you will be arriving later, and we will explain how you can get your barrier pass and, if applicable, your key.

Please note: If you have rented a chalet from a private owner, check-in is only possible during reception opening hours.

What time can we check in?

For our Zwinchalets and Zwinlodges, check-in is possible from 3:30 PM.

If you have booked a camping pitch, you are welcome from 1:00 PM.
Do you have a pitch with private sanitary facilities? In some cases, cleaning may still be in progress when you arrive. The key to your private sanitary unit will be ready for you at the reception from 3:00 PM.

What time should we check out?

Checking out for the camping pitches no later than 11:00 am on the day you leave. If you want to stay longer, you can always visit the reception on the day of departure to ask if a late check-out is possible. This is of course only possible if the place after you is not occupied. 

If you have rented a Zwinchalet or a Zwinlodge, please check out before 10:00 am.

If you have rented a private chalet, you need to agree on the check-out time with the owner of the chalet.
